The Alto da Lousa Red Reserva is produced in the D.O.C. Beira Interior region, sub-region Cova da Beira, in areas of low fertility and light-textured granitic soils. The minimalistic winemaking process employs the traditional grape varieties Touriga Nacional, Rufete, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah, which combine to create a unique profile.
After manual harvesting and the reception of grapes in 15 kg boxes, the grapes undergo total destemming and gentle crushing, followed by extended maceration. The wine is aged in both new and used French oak barrels, and naturally clarified, benefiting from the cold of the Serra da Estrela.
It features an attractive aroma, with fruit notes that completely overshadow the wood aromas. On the palate, it surprises with its marked acidity, light astringency, and a delicate retro-nasal aroma, giving it a long and seductive finish.
This wine should be served between 16-18°C and pairs perfectly with roasted meats, grilled meats, or oven-roasted sausages.
