Alto do Pocinho Tinto D.O.C. Douro is produced in the Douro Superior sub-region, characterised by a Mediterranean climate and schistous soils. This wine is crafted from the traditional grape varieties Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, and Tinta Roriz, which impart a unique and seductive character. After manual harvesting in 15 kg boxes, the grapes undergo gentle crushing and total destemming, followed by a five-day maceration and a nine-month ageing in new French oak barrels. This wine stands out for its attractive aroma, with fruit notes that completely overshadow those of the wood. On the palate, it reveals surprising acidity, a striking structure, light astringency, and a delicate retronasal aroma, resulting in a long and seductive finish. Ideal for serving at 16-18°C and pairing with roasted meats, grilled meats, oven-roasted sausages, or pasta with tomato sauce.
