The Quinta dos Termos Red "A Surpresa" is an exceptional wine from D.O.C. Beira Interior, born from a careful decision to plant the Baga grape at Quinta dos Termos. Although the first years of production did not meet expectations, in 2011, the Baga surprised and produced the best wine of the harvest, leading to the launch of the first edition of this wine, which became a great success. In 2019, the Baga once again showed its full potential, justifying the re-release of this wine, which is only produced in special years.
The winemaking process is meticulous. The grapes undergo prolonged maceration, and the wine is aged in new French oak barrels. Natural clarification is done with the help of the cold from the Serra da Estrela, enhancing its purity and complexity.
The wine features a deep ruby colour and a distinct aroma, creating great expectations for the tasting. On the palate, it reveals exceptional balance and elegance, with strong tannins, fresh acidity, and a slightly astringent texture, providing a long-lasting finish that grants it special gastronomic aptitude. Moreover, it has excellent ageing potential in the bottle, making it an ideal wine to keep for the future.
The Quinta dos Termos Red "A Surpresa" pairs wonderfully with roasted goat, sausages, beef stews, pork cheek stews, game dishes, and Serra cheese.
