Sandeman Porto Fine Tawny is crafted from lighter wines of each year, selected for ageing in small oak casks to develop a unique style. It presents a clear amber colour and light body, with aromas of vanilla and evolved dried fruits. On the palate, it reveals an elegant harmony and freshness of red fruits, combined with the complexity acquired during wood ageing, culminating in a pleasant finish. Produced by the traditional Porto Wine method, hand-picked grapes undergo destemming and crushing before fermentation with skin maceration under controlled temperature to extract the best components. The addition of wine alcohol at the ideal moment sets the balance between the wine's body and bouquet. After the harvest, the wines remain in the Douro until the following spring, when they are transported to Sandeman's centuries-old cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia for ageing in oak casks. During this period, the oenology team conducts regular tastings and analyses, making necessary adjustments and preparing the final blend to maintain Sandeman Porto Fine Tawny's style and character. The final blend is filtered and cold-stabilised before bottling. This wine is ready for immediate consumption and does not require decanting. It should be served between 12°C and 16°C. Once opened, it is recommended to consume within 8 weeks. For storage, the bottle should be kept upright, protected from light and humidity, at a constant temperature between 16°C and 18°C.
